Silk Scarves
Our scarves are 100% silk. They are dyed using a unique process. The colorants come from various natural ingredients such as herbs, botanicals, and spices. No two scarves are alike. The combination of ingredients and the designs that they create are totally random and cannot be duplicated. They can be washed using a mild soap and warm (not hot) water. Do not scrub. Simply swish around in the water and hang to dry (do not wring out). Once dry, steam press using an iron set on silk.

Shipping
Our preferred shipping method is Priority USPS for $4.80 within the US. We also would recommend insurance for an additional $1.70 based on value up to $50.00.

Can I wash silk?
Yes you can. However, never wash in hot water or machine wash. Hand wash in warm water using a mild soap. Do not scrub or wring. Simply swish in the water. Hand to dry. When completely dry you can steam press using the Silk setting on your iron. Use caution.

How do you name the scarves?
Names of the scarves come from the ingredients that I use to color them. For instance, Bogs is created using dried cranberries which are grown in a bog. Madras is created with curry powder. I will do more then one in a Name category and after the name Bogs there will be a number. That tells me when you order which of the Bogs scarves you want. Remember - color can vary from monitor to monitor. If you have questions on the tones of the scarf, please email me.

What is the process to dye these scarves?
It actually is a long process. These scarves are not dyed using manufactured colorants. They are created using various herbs, botanicals and spices. Sometimes a combination of those. What is necessary is a mordant. Steel wire, copper wire, steel wool, etc are used and with everything included in the processing bag, the colors morph and designs are created. The patterns are random and each scarf is unique and can never be duplicated.

What is re-sweatering?
Re-sweatering is using wool sweaters from thrift shops or from other sources (friends & family). They are washed in extremely hot water. Sometimes several washes. Then dried in very hot dryer setting. This process not only cleans the garment but also "felts" the sweater.
